Digitaal Genootschap voor het Verleden (DGV) issued a Request for Proposal to develop a peer-to-peer client application that connects people with passion for historic information to create social networks and communities and to connect professional institutions (like museums) and amateurs.

Martien van Steenbergen from AardRock initiated a collaboration between a number of friends— experts in the Agile Development guild—that eventually resulted in the start of AardWorks. Our offer was rewarded this challenging and exciting project of €170,000 in December 2004. Agile development started in January 2005. The project has been ended in the beginning of 2006.
